COVID19 has changed all of our lives. My firm was designed to work remotely. I am committed to represent my clients and to protect both their health and legal needs. Here are some of the ways that I am working to help clients in our new pandemic world.
Phone and video conferences
You can schedule a free consultation online with my here. I also conduct phone and zoom conferences with clients. In fact, there are clients whom I have never met in person because we were able to remotely handle their case. This business model protects the health and their time.
After court I email clients a copy of subpoenas, police reports, or other materials that were tendered from the court hearing. It is important for clients to have a copy of their legal documents as soon as possible. By email you can save your documents electronically and have them faster than through scheduled personal meetings or mail.
Court in a COVID19 world
Each courthouse is responding to COVID19 differently. I have diligently kept up with all relevant court orders and webinars on how court will run. In many cases I will be able to waive your presence for court hearings. Most, if not all, courts are going to involve video conferences when available. I am fully set up to handle these conferences and can assist you in what to expect in this new style of court as well as assist you in appearing remotely when needed.
There will be delays in many cases as the courts adapt to our COVID19 world. I can help to move your case along as quickly as possible. There are some things that will take longer than it used to. For example, the Louisiana Supreme Court has prohibited State jury trials until June 30, 2020 and federal trials are even farther out than that. Because each court has different rules set up it is best to contact an attorney to discuss your case specifically.
Attorney/client jail visits
Both Orleans and Jefferson Parish have video conferencing that is now available for inmates and their attorney. At this time in person visits are not available. I realize how important it is for people who are incarcerated to meet with their attorney to discuss their legal situation.
Security
I realize that all of my clients data and material are important and need to be secure. I take steps to maintain backups of all records and keep appropriate security guards. If you have particular security concerns I am happy to discuss your concerns and needs in our initial conversation.
Please contact me to talk about your legal needs and questions that you have about how your case will move forward in this new COVID19 time.
