About Aubrey Harris

When life deals you a bad card, you want someone who will listen to you and help you figure out your next move. Aubrey Harris is that someone. With 15 years of experience in the world of law, Aubrey guarantees skilled, experienced and compassionate legal representation for each and every client.

“Aubrey has been my attorney for more than a decade. She has always been quick to respond, genuinely concerned about my legal problems and willing to work with my financial situation. I highly recommend Aubrey Harris to anyone needing a reliable, dependable and trustworthy lawyer.”

~ Megan Harris Brunious

Aubrey understands that everyone’s story is different, and believes that all stories deserve to be heard.

And, unfortunately, she also knows that the American justice system doesn’t always get those stories right.

Sometimes the victim is the one who ends up in handcuffs, or their story gets dismissed or ignored because of our legal system’s double standards.

Aubrey has dedicated the last 10 years of her life giving a voice to the voiceless and standing up for victims across Louisiana.

Aubrey first made her way to New Orleans after graduating from William Jewell College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Philosophy. She received her Juris Doctorate from Loyola University College of Law, and then went on to obtain an LL.M. in Public International Law with an emphasis in International Criminal Law from the University of Leiden in the Hague. She then worked as a law clerk for the United Nations in the Netherlands for two years, serving the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY).

During this time, Aubrey’s beloved New Orleans was struck by Hurricane Katrina.

Aubrey did her part by helping organize hospital and nursing home evacuations in San Antonio, TX immediately after the storm. She made her way back to New Orleans definitively in 2008 to become an Assistant District Attorney.

Her experience not only helped Aubrey gain valuable insight into the way that law enforcement, prosecutors, and judges handle their cases, but also finalized and solidified her desire to work the other side – in criminal defense.

In 2009, she started working as an advocate and criminal defense attorney for clients throughout Louisiana, and she opened the Aubrey Harris Law Firm in 2014. Aubrey and her firm are determined to help everyone in the community, from smaller representation matters to serious advice and advocacy for larger scale legal issues.

Her expertise in international law and years of experience defending people whose challenges are often far greater than just their legal troubles, coupled with her empathetic method of advocacy, earned Aubrey the title of Top Criminal Defense Lawyer in New Orleans Magazine in 2014.

In her very limited free time, Aubrey loves any and all things New Orleans-related and likes to try out new places to eat. She also enjoys spending time with her two rescue pups and rescue cat and occasionally escaping the city life to visit the beach or go hiking in the mountains.
